Question on this N54 chargepipe
Hi Guys,
I just received an aluminum charge pipe from a fellow forum member. Great deal! Anyhow, look at this picture. It appears to have both a BOV flange and two diverter valve ports. And 1 meth bung. I've just looked around a fair bit and I don't see any other manufacturer that has both the BOV flange and the 2 diverter valves. I apologize if this is a super noob question (still trying to learn these N54s) so my question is, How come almost every other manufacturer has a BOV flange and no diverter valves? Thanks! |

I don't even know where to begin other than this design is ridiculous and makes zero sense. These are terrible eBay charge pipes from people who have no idea about the N54. Stock setup runs diverter valves. Most upgrade to a BOV of some sort. You should run one or the other, not both like this thing makes you think. Even the meth bung is in a terrible spot right above the sensor. Might as well trash that pipe man.

I don't plan to do meth for awhile, and I'm curious how the BOV sounds. So I will cap the diverter valves. Will those hoses need to be removed completely or can I just tuck them in engine bay? Thanks! |

I wouldn't want to cap something under so much pressure (talking about more than stock boost). Granted it may work but why would you want to use it. I say go for a n54 tuning piece or ER long version. The less amount of leak possibilities the better. To each their own though.

Well, look at it as a lesson learned. Hopefully a cheap lesson. Thoroughly research future part purchases, especially used parts or use reputable vendors. It will save you $'s in the future.

How much did you pay? If you truly were mislead you could try and work something out with the seller?

Well, I guess I forgot the seller did tell me this pipe has BOV/Diverters but I was confused at the time by what he meant. I'm going to get my cousin to weld the diverters shut and drop a Tial BOV in. So because the meth bung is so close to the sensors, I'd imagine that freaks out the sensor with incorrect readings? |

Design is ridiculous ... Just plug one of the options (DV or BOV)

Start over dude. Lesson learned and move on.
As you said.... You are kinda new at this. Any hiccups along the way and this hacked up pipe will always be in question. |

Ya... I thought about it, and to patch up either the DVs or the Flange would make it even more ghetto and less reliable.
Just going to take this one as a loss and buy a BOV pipe with 1 bung and call it a day. |

If all else fails, you could use the chargepipe to grow flowers in, maybe a sweet fish tank addition, or the worlds worst beer bong. Your choice.

orteeze him: yes, it's made of aluminum. I brought it with me to work just in case. I can ship out today. him: he ships it, it gets delayed by usps for some reason but makes it here in a timely manner while on way, him: Unsure of the manufacturer to be honest. Came with a meth kit I bought. My car is N55. You can use your original clip to the throttle body and buy some c clamps. The stock sensor screws may work but I'd buy some so you don't waste anytime going to the parts store. him: no, it's for a n54. I have a n55 therefore I never installed it. you're good!! me: i asked why it has 2 dv and a flange, that maybe i was missing something him: I never ran this on my car. I have a N55. Buy caps for it. They are like 3 bucks at Lowes. I think I told you this already.. then links to a video where a guy clamps rubber chair stoppers (the feet caps) to the dv valves to clamp them.
