Depends if the tester notices. In theory though yes. If an auto levelling system is fitted in conjunction with HID headlamps it must be working.

You may have the same problem as me with my headlights not auto adjusting. Its either both motors have gone faulty, or the sensor at the back axle (or the wiring in between of course). Check the arm onto the sensor on the back axle first, that it hasn't popped off, as that is the most simple fix.

There's also a sensor on the front axle too, so good to check both.

Found the front and it looks ok. I can see no sign of the back sensor, does anybody know where it is situated?

It's on the same side, probably easier to see with the wheel off though.

Both sensors appear ok. I do not know when the auto-levelling system stopped working but I have recently replaced both halo bulbs with like for like bulbs. Any further comments would be most welcome.

Just a suggestion, not sure if you've tried this before, if you pop the arm off the brackets and wiggle the sensor up and down do the headlight beams also move?

I recall another thread where a chap noticed that the sensor arm was pointing the wrong way, thinks he twisted it when jacking the car up. He moved it to the correct orientation and it started working properly.

There's a nut on the back of the arm where it connects to the sensor, don't try to lever the plastic cup of the ball joint. If you do disconnect it move the plastic arm on the sensor & the light beam should adjust.
The ball joint at the bottom on mine had come apart. If It needs replacing
its much easier with the wheel off

I have had this car 8 years and put it in the garage every night. My usual routine is to start the engine and switch on the headlights, this is when I notice the auto levelling system is working because the beams dip and come up again. I fitted brighter angel eyes and found that they were bright enough to drive into the garage, if I then put the headlights on the beams did not dip, leading me to believe that there was something amiss, hence this post.
Since then I have discovered that starting the engine triggers the headlight movement, and not the light switch. Doh.
