software updated, radio displayed swl-sdars
Hey all,
First off, I searched and read for about 1.5 hrs and did not find anything giving me an answer. My only thought is I may need a FSC code. But here goes. I have a 2010 E90 with L7 and professional radio. I was experiencing dreaded "no audio" intermittently (but controls worked), could not find a pattern to it. Brought car to an Indy, they ended up doing a complete software update (3-4 hrs) and now the radio is displaying "SWL-SDARS" and will not boot/emit audio. Anyone know what I need to do? My research suggest maybe they didn't inject the proper SDARS(Sirius?) code or they needed a FSC? No hardware was changed whatsoever. My car is Sirius factory enabled and was working previously. So after my trip to the shop my radio is even more bunked. They are going to do some research into the official bulletins put out for my initial issue and troubleshoot later this week. Hope someone knows what he error message I have means! Thanks. Last edited by chmerlinn; 02-15-2017 at 02:54 PM.. |

No my whole radio unit will not turn on. Zero sounds coming out of the speakers. No audio, no gong, nothing. And my radio screen is stuck displaying "SWL-SDARS". Before the shop did the software update, I had full functionality, just no sounds(some days the sound worked but it was about 20% of the time).
I can also say I don't have the trunk module for satellite as it is part of the radio unit-I was using Sirius before hand but cancelled the sub. Still worked. I was told that they can communicate with the CIC as well, so MOST loop and hardware is working ok. Last edited by chmerlinn; 02-15-2017 at 02:54 PM.. |

Usually the first thing to check for intermittent audio or noise in a system with
and amp is water in the trunk shorting out the amplifier. The next thing to check would be a weak battery causing the IBS to kick in and start turning things off. I don't know why you would expect software to fix this. If its working in the first place it almost never fails due to software , hardware yes. Still they should be able to update it without screwing it up. Idrive/nav and professional radio are not the same thing. If you have pro radio http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1036190 Last edited by ctuna; 02-15-2017 at 01:56 PM.. |

I expect software to fix this as I've read that many people fixed this issue with coding. It was also not working correctly since I bought the car used, hence why I did not discount a software issue. I then brought the car to an indy shop that specializes in coding. I expect they checked the battery, but if not I will do this next. I picked up the car the other day and they said they are going to have to look into how to fix the new issue. They fully reprogrammed everything. Radio now shows "SWL_SDARS" and no audio or functionality. My hopes is that someone knows what that means, or can direct me on how to fix this issue - as far as i know, SDARS relates to the sirius radio module. To give some more detail, i have not changed any hardware or retrofitted anything. Thanks for the reply Ctuna edit: My mistake, i thought CIC was the head unit module, i see now that it is iDrive, I definitely do not have iDrive. |

You have a problem in most ring (initial problem)
the fact that radio is freezed is another problem and needs separate fix Last edited by Levanime; 02-15-2017 at 05:52 PM.. |
