Sometimes when you have enough problems pile up it's just worth it to put the car on a lift and have an experienced person take a good look at it.

It's all postulation until you get down there and do some work. As far as the oil leak... could be anything. If you can't tell what fluid is leaking you're even further behind. If you can, get under there and do some housekeeping (clean up) and then determine exactly where it's coming from. If you've been driving around it's very difficult to determine the source as a little bit of oil can be spread all over the place in a short time at highway speeds. It doesn't take much to make a mess.

You could be lucky and just need some maintenance -either way continuing to drive with possibly low fluid levels isn't the best idea.
