335d or 330d N57 LCI?

I think I'm right in saying that 335d's never came with the N57 engine?

So looking at used E91's is it better to get a 335d for a little extra over a similar aged 330d with a N57 engine? Both are LCI models.

I know there is obviously more power from a 335d, but is that extra power worth a premium and is there any better reliability with a N57 engine?

Yes your right, 335d never got the N57.

I was in a similar position a couple of years ago debating over a M57/N57 330d. I drove several of each including a 335d.

There was not much power difference between the M57/N57 330d but the biggest difference was the refinement and lack of noise of the N57.

This is to be expected as the M57 engine was first released in 1998! Yes, it has been updated heavily and many times since but the basic design is old.

On the other hand, the N57 was an all new engine launched in 2008.

I would advise to drive both and see how you get on. But then again I would pick a car based mileage, condition and spec.

e91 market seams to be a varied place at the moment on price, I had been searching for a good one for 7 months and finally 2 weeks ago got my 330i at last.

I had been searching for all 3.0 models petrol or diesel because I wanted one in good shape and good spec. I wasn't too fused on power because all were more powerful than my 118d by far thankfully.

I wouldn't discount a 330d because they really aren't a slow car and could be remapped to 335d power if you ever felt you needed it.

only advice really is to find a car that has been looked after and with the spec you want.

Thanks for the replies.

The E91 market is really up and down at the moment. I've been looking for nearly 3 months, because I have a lease going back next week. I didn't really do much when some alright cars came up in January, and now more recently everything has been really expensive, so much so I've seen some really good F31's for less than 1k more!
I think some dealers/pirvate sellers are taking advantage because there aren't many around.

Think I'll hold out for a N57 330d. Just hard to know if I can get a decent one. My budget is upto 12k, but obviously I want leather and pro Nav as a minimum.
