Battery change, Now I have CELs...
I changed the battery today and hooked everything back up and it started fine and idles fine.
Now have CEL on the dash panel. -triangle with circle arrow around and ! inside, not flashing. Manual says DSC and DTC deactivated -under it is 4x4. manual says xDrive and DSC have failed. Have trans checked immediately. I haven't driven it yet. I think that these just have to reset when I drive but just wanted to be sure. Anyone have any experience or help? Thanks. |

CEL is not normal from power loss but the DTC/ABS/Brake/AWD errors are normal. The steering angle sensor needs to be reinitialized. Driving a bit turn the wheel lock to lock will reset it

Turn the wheel all the way to left then and all the way to right, they will go off. It is a ritual needs to be done after reconnecting battery every time. Plus readjust the clock on radio. |

Thanks, Will take it out today for a drive and perform a 'lock to lock'.
I tried hooking up a second battery to the jump points under the hood thinking that that would maintain 12v to the system when I removed the battery. Didn't work. IDK if it was because I left it battery out and jumper on for about 90 minutes or because I had to disconnect all the connections on the battery distribution box which sits on top of the battery. The trunk wouldn't open and had to use the key. This was a failed idea. Will have to rethink this one of wanting to maintain 12v to the system when removing the battery. |
