So the track opens next weekend. What are you guys doing to get a good burnout before staging the d? I'll probably just use my summer tire set.

I've heard of some disabling abs ect.

Water box?

If you don't have an LSD you're not gonna do much good attempting a burnout. Long press of the traction control button, left foot firmly on brake, right foot hold RPM around 2500, release brake, hold wheel tightly.

Yeah that's what I was thinking...

I've never really brake boosted the car but I guess it's worth trying. I have a feeling 1st gear is gonna be chaos; really I'm shooting for 120mph trap.

I don't track my car at all(not yet at least), but I have a straight stretch of road by my house where I like to go when I feel like going fast. The best launch I've gotten(by feel, I wasn't monitoring times) was with the setup I had above. Also had it in manual mode starting in 2nd.

I did some pulls today - only close track is 1/8 though

I did the xHP flash on Thursday - could tell a difference.

Tried several variations at launch - basically a fact finding mission today.

Ran M/T drag radials - tried to avoid the water box and only warmed up the tires with a quick wheel spin.

If youre on street tires there is no reason to warm the tires unless you either cant go around the water box or its really cold out. Street tires get slippery when heated up very much.

How good your 60' is depends a lot on how the track is prepared, I wouldnt bother trying to match other people's 60' times as they may have been on a really well prepped track posting times that just arent possible on your track and your tires. I would start by trying a 2000 RPM brake boost in 2nd, see how that goes and adjust accordingly. Depending on the track prep I have been able to hold a 2500 RPM brake boost, and other times I cant hold a launch from idle so it really depends on the track condition.

Interesting comment on the open diff. I didn't gain any straight line traction with the LSD over the OEM electronic LSD. Both setups would leave dual black rubber marks on the pavement.

Do you have any tips/suggestions you can share on achieving that 60 foot time? I know you and 335dsleeper have discussed technique's in the past, but since this thread is active and the title is specific, it might be helpful to add them here as well.

With street tires, I just skip the box and spin them slightly to get the dirt and stuff off the tire. 2nd gear launch at 2200RPM seemed to work the best for me, as well as meth starting at 20PSI. I managed a few 1.8s 60ft's with all season Michelins aired down to 29PSI.

So what differential do our cars come with form he factory? I've always heard it was an open diff that would start some mean one tire fires. Is that not he case?

We have an open diff, that is electronically modulated by braking either side in order to maintain traction on both sides. You wouldn't get the one wheel spin, but it's at a cost of your brake pad wear; hence why they wear out two times faster than the fronts.

Interesting. Thank you! Funny enough, I wear my fronts faster because I don't typically get any wheel spin with how I drive.
