Changed turbos recently... now need to change again
So about 8 months ago I ordered some Hexon RR600s from Hexon and installed them with a ECS tuning turbo installation kit. A short time later as we all know Hexon went under and even though my RR600s are running fine, I still want to swap them into Pure Stage 2s in the very near future for reliability and warranty purposes (don't really want to go hard out and go with a custom ST). If I swap out my Hexons for PS2s, would I need to buy and install the turbo installation kit with the new PS2s even though the turbo gaskets and o rings etc etc were already replaced less than a year ago.

Seems like it would be worth replacing them for peace of mind, given that you're already spending thousands on turbos + installation. But I personally don't know what kind of condition they would be in after a year

That seems silly. Will you swap out the PS2s when the warranty runs out on them for some new ones so you have a new warranty again? And again when that set's warranty is out so you have a warranty forever? Why not just swap them for Pures IF they ever fail, which there is a good chance that will be never, then you'll never have to pay again?
Your turbos have already lasted 8 months without issue so there are no major manufacturing/machining issues with them. Just look after them and don't overspeed or overboost them and change your oil regularly. |

I'd just run them. It's not worth the install costs to swap them out when there's a good chance they'll be working fine for quite some time.

Save up for the PS2's, but no need to throw out perfectly working turbos atm. And yes I would definitely replace with new o-rings, gaskets etc. Working in the oilfield I make it a habit now whenever I remove anything that has a sealing surface I replace with a new gasket/o-ring...everytime. Such a cheap fix for a potentially catastrophic problem

Just been hearing a lot of horror stories with the RR600s and 700s, seeing as its common for the turbo shafts on them to crack with repeated spirited driving. That's why Ive been wanting to change them for PS2s but yeah I'm likely now to just ride it out till they fail, however that long that may be. It most possibly will last till I sell off the car.
