Mixing injector indexes
Hi guys,
I am pretty sure one of my injectors has started leaking since for the past month or so on a cold start only it would shake a bit when reaching 700-600rpm.After that it drives smoothly and doesn't do it again for the rest of the day. I will find out on Saturday if it is the injector indeed. So I know BMW "recommends" changing all 3 injectors in a bank but has anyone changed only one injector. I will remove the plastic cover tomorrow but I am pretty sure I will have something below index 10...I know a person who has mixed and after coding, he had no issues. Read a few people on the forums has done the same and with no problems. Has anyone here done that ? |

I wouldn't risk it when BMW specifically tells their techs not to mix index 11 and above with index 10 and below. I have read some short-term success stories, but again, why risk it? You can get factory injectors for ~$110 (or Euros in your case?), what's another couple hundred dollars/euros for 2 more versus maybe a much more expensive issue later?
IMPORTANT: Injectors with index 11 and higher have a different calibration and construction than injectors with index 10 and lower. Due to this difference, the injectors with index 11 and higher and injectors with index 10 and lower cannot be mixed on the same engine bank (e.g., cylinders 1-4 or 5-8). For index 11 injector failures, only replace the failed injector. |

I live in Eastern Europe....they are a bit more expensive here... x 3.....and coupled with the great purchasing power....makes it very much more expensive... If I have to of course I will replace them all with index 12,I was just asking if someone has done it and it worked for him in the long rum

I paid ~300$ for one injector index #12. I replaced all on 1st bank (1,2,3 cylinder). Cause my dealer said, that I have to do this.
After that my hard acceleration is smoother, that before. Well, On 1st bank I have index #12, but on 2nd bank I have index #1. Weird. I think, I have to change bank 2 on index #12. |

I probably can. I have to call they guy who imported my previous car from the States. I wanted to order the new Eldor coils since they are sooo cheap + vrsf inlets. It would make sense to order all of those since the shipping won't be that much of a difference.

dilyanyordanov if you have read on the forum why don't you engage those members and have the questions asked there on their thread? Always better than starting new thread expecting members with relevant info to come and reply. vasillalov pioneered the injector codying. Talk to him
