Loss of power due to secondary air pump?

Hi all, I have a BPC tune and headers, and I did a before and after dyno for my 3 stage intake manifold and only gained 2HP. I just recently got a check engine light for p1434, secondary air pump, that be it, or is my cheap code reader wrong? I went to autozone and they pulled the same code

i'm always entertained by people who believe that they actually have 2 Horsepower gain or loss. 🤷*♂️

how do you know it was only a 2 hp gain? did you drive to the dyno, do a baseline, stay on the dyno and install the intake and tune, then do the second dyno run on the same day at the same dyno in the same temperature and weather?

regardless.... if you have a problem, you should fix it.

if you have the same code from autozone as your code reader, you have two positives for that code.

Hmm, I'm getting a P140a. Reverted back to stock tune and have the same fault, I'm gonna schedule an appointment with the dealership to have it repaired or replaced under SULEV warranty.

EDIT

I'm not getting P140A, just the lean bank codes due to headers, but I'm going to keep running the tune to see if it does develop it.

I'd be careful with that - they might not cover it if you have headers installed.

The SAP failure has nothing to do with headers.

That's probably true in reality, but the ECU monitors the SAP through the O2 sensors and if the exhaust is modified they could easily deny it.

Something doesn't add up:

If you have SAP, you have an N51 - it already had a 3 stage manifold.

If you had to swap in a 3 stage manifold, then you don't have SAP because that's only on N51s.

From what I'm reading, P1434 is for the leak detection module

I'm not entirely sure how or when the SAP decides to function except that it injects air into the exhaust stream to assist with warming up the cats on cold day. Recently the temperatures here in SD are on the rise, but I've only gotten P140a running BPC Stage 2. Bob at BPC told me everything looks fine on his end. Hopefully the code can replicate on the stock tune. I've decided to schedule a diagnostic session with one of the BMW shops out here, just waiting to see what my schedule looks like in the next few weeks to be able to take the time off to down the car.

I bought an oil fill cap (been leaking) today and cleared the code and it never came back. Which kinda sucks because the code didn't come on until days after the dyno(and i feel no more power). I bought a USB inpa cable and i almost bought software from rheingold, but im still waiting on the slowest sales team in the world to call me back.... i have no fucken clue what live data im gonna look for and I prolly just pissed away the money but BimmerGeeks is 100% right i gotta see more than just a code
