Lost in a sea of software!
Hi,
New E91 owners and have a 2010 LCI 325d. i'm new to BMW, got some background in VW but mostly know about MEGASQUIRT. so i know a bit about cables and trying not to completely ruin your engine but messing with the unknown! But, i'm struggling to track down or rather single out the ideal software for me. I want to be able to scan for faults, remove, and show component parameters (so i know everything is working as it should ect) and probably some coding too, so i can swap the battery ect and maybe make a few changes, upgrading to bluetooth music would be nice but for bigger jobs i'm happy to pay a expert. i guess i don't want to be stuck on a simple task and be bent over a barrel by a garage, i prefer to do all my own work. i've searched about but been getting pretty lost. some say Carly is cool but that seems like it just does fault codes... as a side note, i have a Mac.... if i need a cheap windows laptop purely for the car, i can live with that. have looked at this online ... http://www.bavariantechnic.com/buy.aspx Thanks Andy |

only snag with those softwares is they are windows only, so would require a spare laptop which isnt too bad but tempted by the ease of carly and should do pretty much all i'm mentally able to do just a snag they charge extra to add on the other features. but if it does the job. and i can try and get a V2 wifi adapter used maybe....

I run mine on a mac and can do absolutely everything, I use VMWare Fusion to boot up into Windows 7. Works perfectly. I highly recommend Cable Shacks cables, i've bought cheap ebay ones and ended up replacing them because they only work intermittently and you end up banging your head against a wall
http://www.cable-shack.co.uk/ or they sell cheaper on their ebay shop and comes with all the 1 click software installs. |

Thanks guys, so £42 delivered for the d can cable, any difference between the switched and adapter cable? Mines a 2010 LCI e91 325d if it makes any difference.
I've dodged windows for years but guess I'll have to bite the bullet. Which version is the best windows for the software? Will look into the boot software for running windows programs on the forum Thanks guys! Will also check out the eBay shop mentioned |
