Technic harness vs regular LOC

Obviously the technic harness would be cleaner and easier, but if I used a regular LOC by tapping and soldering would results be pretty much the same? Is there a need to pay $85 for a harness when I could buy a $15 LOC, do a little more work, and get the same results?

I'm a bit of an amateur on the subject, but I'm pretty sure you would need a low voltage trigger without the Technic harness. I opted not to get the harness when installing my infinite baffle 15" setup and thought I could just tap into my fuse panel so the amp would turn on with ignition. This didn't work, so I needed to get a low voltage trigger and T-tap it to any speaker wire coming from my logic amp. I went with the peripheral brand.

The major point of a Technic Harness is you don't have to hack
into your Wiring Harness and/or use your amateur soldering skills or understanding of wiring and that it makes it easy . Since Technic makes a bunch of different harnesses the degree that this is useful may vary.
But his stuff is proven.

If you are just doing a sub this may not be a big deal.
