In the same boat, Berry BMW quoted me 271 + vat in parts to do the chain but it didnt look like they had included the sprockets so I'm not sure

Trade price from ECP for the FAI kit is £188 + Vat with my discount, there are some cheaper kits being advertised on Ebay at around £120 but I wouldnt touch them with a bargepole as they are prpbably chinese made out of recycled chocolate !

Thanks for that. I woud'nt touch those ebay ones! I have been reading up about the Fai kits and people have had a few horrow stories with them so thats put me off.
Also there is upper and lower kit, im not sure if both need replacing.
I have been reading another thread on here and I think he said his upper tensioner was nearly falling apart.. unbelievable!!

That was my tensioner that fell to pieces !

Apparently Febi are the oem for BMW but FAI make lots of kits and are generally a good make, only other choice is BMW andi don't think you get any extra warranty you'd need to check but I'd swap out your tensioner as a precaution

There are 2 chains and you need to do both

Bmw have quoted me £1330 for labour to do both timing chains, not including parts...It does however seem quiter now since its service using shell helix ultra oil. That was at Bmw and cost £250 quid!
