So I've installed INPA and am having an issue with com error. When I connect my K+DCAN cable and turn on INPA on my Microsoft Surface Tablet, the indicator for the battery connection is always blacked out even if I'm not connected to the car. Ignition also is always white even when I AM connected to the car with the ignition on (even car running didn't work).

I have installed INPA from an executable file found here:

I configured my Com Port to Com1 with latency at 1 multiple times to no avail. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both drivers and INPA.


I'm starting to think it is the cable. I got it from a buddy who never got around to learning to code. It looks like one of the "good" cables as it has a green board, black cord and gold USB connector but I know that may not matter.

Anyone have any suggestions to offer to try and resolve this? Any way to troubleshoot the cable/Com Port? I need to replace a fuel injector on my daily and wanted to do the work myself if I could get INPA working.

No it doesn't appear so. I keep getting a dialogue box that pops up saying

"ApiResult Text: Error #100 SYS-0010: Initialization Error API job error or no such result! Continue script processing?"

I just went into E90, engine, MSD80.0 (N54 engine)and tried various items SGBD - info, SG-Identifikation, etc. And they all resulted in that dialogue box except Systemdiagnosen, which brought me to a dead end where none of the items from F1-F8 did anything.

Is something wrong with the setup of INPA? Or is this more of a sign of the cable?

Also, if I go to information when I first start INPA under EDIABAS, Initial path, ECU path and Interface all read "?????????????" After them. Is this a sign of a bad install of INPA?

From your description of the cable it sounds like a one-stop cable so you should be fine. It's probably your install.

Yea it seems like a good cable. My buddy said it was the one everyone was buying that worked and it cost him $120. Wish I could confirm which cable.

I'll uninstall everything and try again. I'll probably wipe my tablet and use a a fresh install of Windows 10.

I figured this install was too good to be true. Do you have a link to an install procedure for Windows 10 you could direct me to that is known to work?
