Is it reasonable to find a LCI n54 335xi 6MT e90 with service history for under $14K?
A well taken care sedan (need 4 doors and xi) 2009-2010 with reasonable miles under 80K, doesn't matter what color, but service history does: HPFP changed and preferably issues like VCG, WP or even turbos rebuild/addressed - since this is the main risk factor and PITA for me.
If 6MT is a limiting factor, then I'm wondering if same specs, but Auto will be more realistic to find for that price? Thank you P.S. The reason I ask is that I see a lot of really nice tastefully modded 335xi for sale on forum for $15-16K, but they are loaded with expensive mods that I don't necessarily need. So I was wondering if a simpler 335xi sedan can be bought for a bit less price of $14K? |

Or maybe the other thing you can do is find one that's under priced and set aside a budget to have the common problems replaced

Finding good service history and 14K Will be hard when you want one that isnt modded,
Enthusiasts keep service records, the 335I with a 6MT is an enthusiast car, enthusiasts like to customize cars and mod them, see the trend? its possible to find one, but with the build you want, 6MT and XDrive are hard to find, throw in service records, and you have a unicorn. Its out there, just be ready to wait for one. |

I paid less than $10K for a 6MT 335xi. Some service records, however, since I did not pay quite 14K for it I was able to do basic maintenance with my own funds (walnut blast, spark plugs, coils, valve cover gasket, oil cooler gasket, new clutch and flywheel). Original HPFP and injectors (hoping the HPFP goes bad in the next 3 months so I can get a new one through recall warranty). |

There are a lot of cars that fit the bill out there but they go quickly and many are right around 80K miles. 6MT and 4 doors makes it harder. My lifestyle now makes a coupe a possibility so even though I would have preferred a sedan, I opened my search to all body styles but was firm about heated sport seats. Found a number of 2009+ 6MT sedans in the 70-80K range and in the $15-16K range. I ended up with one that had 80K and even though it was a coupe, I grabbed it because it also had comfort access which I really liked on my last car, and 7 years of comprehensive records all from a BMW dealer, and the car was under an extended IWS warranty which the owner transferred to me and has 5 months/15K remaining on it. When cars are under warranty, owners tend to take better care of them, or at least are less likely to skimp on maintenance. It was on cars.con for $13K for over a month and we ended up at $11,500. If it was a sedan it would have sold more quickly. Craigslist is great but don't forget cars.com, autotrader, cargurus, etc.
