Xenon Ballast (Control Module)
I think my xenon ballast is busted after seeing lots of water in my headlights.
Using realoem.com i found the part number to be 63117182520. I found a used one on gumtree with part number 63127255724 (which came off an X3). According to realoem 63127255724 supersedes 63117182520 which means it should be compatible? However looking at the pictures its clear they look different. Can anyone chime in in terms of whether the 63127255724 would fit? I have a 335i e92 2008. Pics of ballasts attached. thanks |

Looking at ETK, when I search a e92 335i 2008 model, the number listed is 63117182520, RRP of $1310. according to my ETK the previous number is 63122754797, which is no longer available. BUT I also come across the same listing when I search off part number 520, it lists 63127255724 as the previous p/n, but also states "NON exchangeable retrospectively" which means it wont fit/work.

I suggest upgrading to 6000k if you are already paying $320 a pair. My friend just bought a 6000k from SCA at $470 a pair. But it's genuine Philips Ultinon Xenon bulb. Lots of counterfeits online, if you want genuine, that's the price. |

Philips xenon.
I personally think the headlight is very important too. Always worry if cheap xenon bulb will harm the headlight such as excessive heat or whatever the bulb release. I also spent $300 for a pair of decent xenon bulb on my precious JDM car. While there are lots of counterfeit Philip bulbs online, I have also been thinking to buy a pair of the Philips 6000k D1S too. Have seen a pair on eBay but a lot cheaper, $270 a pair. But still wondering if they are genuine Philips product. |

I hardly drive my car let alone at night but when I had it as a daily driver I was underwhelmed with the oem Xenon lighting. Coming from a Lexus I felt that illuminated the Rd better :-/

OEM xenon is only 4300k, the 6000k is a lot better.
Whenever I stop next to a JDM car at traffic light at night, i don't feel happy with how my headlight is illuminating the road ahead. Their is super white, mine is yellowish white. That's why I am always keen on upgrading to 6000k xenon bulb but don't feel confident with counterfeit consider the headlight itself costs $1000 each. |

I got a second hand ballast/control module put in by an auto electrician. There was heaps of water pooled up in the ballast. However the headlight still does not work. He verified that the bulb/ballast is fine by installing them on the left side. He reckons that you need to reset the FRM short circuit counter or something with software like autologic which he does not have. I kind of need to get this sorted urgently as i work nightshifts. Been doing some research and found that it can be resetted with INPA/Ediabus software which i have no idea about. Anyone here have the software and willing to help out? (more than happy to pay for your time)

I recently had to replace my xenon control module on my '07 e90 325i. Auto electrician pointed me to this ebay store where I purchased an aftermarket module for ~$60 USD. I installed it and worked perfectly and has been for the last 4 months. Check it out, would recommend them.
http://stores.ebay.com/GenuineXenon-OEM-Xenon-HID-Parts I also replaced my xenon bulbs with a pair of Phillips DS1's considering I had to take the wheel and bumper off to gain access to the module. Easy job, but takes a couples of hours. Can be done yourself. There are a few handy youtube videos on how to complete the job. Cheers Last edited by Grohouse; 07-26-2016 at 09:55 PM.. |

Is it 6000k? Part number: 85410WX? My friend bought one set from SCA but I saw eBay got some at $270 a pair which saves $200 from not buying at SCA. Invision seems to be the authorised Philips dealer here in Australia. |

6000k will provide less luminosity(lux) vs 4300k at the same wattage from my understanding. Also the human eyesight is naturally more sensitive to yellow than whites/blues.
I concur that the e92 oem headlights are quite underwhelming. I had a 55w aftermarket xenons on a previous car that was significantly brighter... and cost only $60 bucks. |
