Radio cuts out

I bought the car about month ago so not sure how long this been going on. What I've noticed is when it's cold out my radio keeps cutting out, sometimes every 2 sec and other times every 5 min. Doesn't matter if I'm driving or just idling. Other thing I noticed is if my key/button is in position two radio works fine and as soon as I start the car it starts cutting out. Any idea what could be? 07 335i coupe with logic 7 no navi

Check the battery . A low battery can cause a lot of odd problems
and cold aggravates battery problems.
Also there was a recall on the power line connector to the
back of the cabin fuse box . Usually the symptoms for that
are all cabin power cuts out and the car stops running though.

Does the car have bluetooth? If so disconnect the phone (forget device) and see if it continues. Before I coded my radio professional properly in my e87 it would do the same if the phone was paired. Proper coding and it is fine now.

Battery is new. I don't have any other electrical problems besides radio.

Yes it does. I never use bluetooth and it's off. What's proper coding?

Radio coded to the cars options using the FRM and CAS to default code the options (Bluetooth and USB from the VO).

Carly can't do it and a dealer will not do it. You need to find a coder in your area.

No but you might have to code out other errors that this creates like
the SOS error . See Dynavin thread for details.
As said before check the battery or for water in the trunk
near the amplifier before blaming the radio or idrive which seldom fail.
Since this happens when you turn the car on have a look at the
alternator voltage to.

Not to thread jack but I am having a similar issue (and I dont want to start a new one )
So all of a sudden today at start up my radio started cutting out every second.

I also notices that my SAT button just was two - - , and when pressed did nothing (buttons themselves work, I tested with radio stations). Normally when SAT option was selected it would give me directions on how to activate Sirius, now nothing!

I disconnected the battery, reconnected. waited 2 mins then turned radio on. Did the cut off thins for a while then all worked norman BUT still NO SAT. Then after a while when I started the car again, this time radio was on. It again started cutting off then went completely quiet with SOS message.

Then I stumbled upon a work around- Start car. Keep radio off for 5 mins, then turn it on, and it works fine (Still NO SAT though). Aux and radio work fine. I've not followed this procedure about 3 times since and it works, but still very annoying.

I think its my SAT module thats gone out. thoughts? doing a optical loop tomorrow.

Aslo, since my car has SAT could I just replace it with a used module ? I suppose it would not need coding (?)
