335d gutted DPF - what is this pipe?

Hi guys,

Please see attached, can someone explain if this pipe should be connected to the back pressurise sensor or shall I stick a bolt in it?

My DPF has been gutted - since then it may have come off or the garage purposfully disconnected it (for a reason)

Thanks

Can you trace the other end of the pipe - does it end up connected to the top of the DPF ? The reason I ask is my 335D just has a rubber hose, 8mm diameter from the DPF to the pressure sensor. I know because I just replaced it ! Yours seems to have a swaged metal fitting disappearing out of view.
If it does indeed go to the DPF, then don't leave it open like that, as the exhaust gases can get pretty hot and where its pointing will probably destroy your pressure sensor.

Yes that's correct, it's coming up from the dpf

Things is my dpf has been gutted, therefore not sure if I need it connected?

Thanks

If its gutted it wont be used, and if as off its obviously not causing a running issue. But you will need to block it off to stop exhaust gas coming up out of it.

Exact same issue as you mate, at least you knew it was a pressure sensor.. i was asking everyone why the "EGR vaccuum pipe" wasnt blocked.. but everyones got to learn haha. Odd thing is, mine wasnt blocked either.. just wondering if its co-incidental that they forgot to block ours or theres another reason.
