hey guys

as the title say i blew my engine on the way to philly due to extremely low engine oil even tho i had em changed 2weeks ago the car is currently at my gf's body shop in philly. does ne know where i could find n55 engine for cheap??or is it possible to swap with n54 engine or f30 320i or 328i engine?? he found used one for 6500 (80k) n 8000 (20000) but its still too expensive plz help me thx!!!!!!!!

The f series 328 and 320 use a 4 cylinder turbo charged motor, not the N55

Try carparts.com. Many salvage yards post their inventory on that site, and you can compare prices across vendors. Some even show the car that the parts came from.

The easiest and the most resale value deal is to replace the engine with a N55 motor with less miles. Anything else will probably devalue the car, and might require some custom installation work.

OP just wondering, did the car tell you it was low on oil? still sorry to hear about the engine.

^^ I bet it didn't while he was driving. I just started to burn oil 60k on my 11 N55 and it doesn't notify me till I turn the car off :/, I was 1.5 qrts low yesterday and no indicator light till I shut the car off, then got the chime and saw the yellow oil can thing on the display between the RPM and speedo. I was like WELL that doesn't help

Car-parts for a engine but double check warranty with the supplying company. I had to find a new engine, first engine the sent me had issues but I purchased a warranty... fixed it but determined they sent me a bad engine and had it replaced. The replaced engine's 6th cylinder didn't hold compression. Wasted so much damn time, it was stupid. Ended up finding a closer source to provide a engine. I was picky tho, I wanted one with less on the engine than my OD (38k).

I paid 4k for the engine.

you know interesting enough its not only our cars that notify low oil after a long duration. I experienced it on a 2017 Audi.

literally when there was no engine oil in the car on the highway it notified me then. not even midway of loosing oil lol
