I'm refreshing the suspension on my E90 and decided to get the B4 dampers all round. However I'd like to hear if there is any notable difference in ride and handling between the B4 dampers for 'standard chassis' and the dampers for 'sport suspension'.

As I understand either of them will be compatible with the M-sport springs I currently have but only the 'sport' will be compatible with the Eibach Pro-kit if I decide to lower it at the same time, but the lowering side of it depends entirely on whether my wheels still fit with no issues (I have a separate thread open for that discussion).

EDIT: I think I may be mistaken in saying that only the 'sport' dampers will be compatible with Eibach's, either of them will be compatible it seems.

The dampers for sport suspension are stiffer than the standard one's. I believe they are also shorter too but not 100% on this.

I recently did a suspension refresh on my E90 and went for OEM Sachs dampers as I did not want to make the suspension any firmer.

Where did you get that info from? Bilstein told me that the 'sport' dampers are recommended for lowering springs.

The standard Bilstein dampers are for SE cars, I dont think these with Eibach springs will be a great combination compared to your standard M sport setup.

Eibach prokit springs only lower a small amount hence they will work with both dampers. Yes the slightly firmer damping (and maybe a slightly shorter rod) will be better to match the Eibach's they certainly aren't a must.

Eibach springs are compatible with both sport and SE cars hence they will work with both types of dampers (just as they would with OE differing dampers).

Ive just ordered a set for my car and after reading loads of threads on here and other forums have gone for the sport option as my car has the M Sport suspension.
