Advice
I have an 07 335i.
I have replaced all the control arms with m3 arms and replaced the tie rods. The suspension is lowered with the B12 lowering kit. At low speeds (parking lot) when I turn the wheel to the extreme one way or another, it makes a rather loud creak or click. I replaced the swaybar end end links with Hotchkiss adjustable end links. I tried to follow this diy : http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=791305 Initially, I made the adjustable swaybar links 1" longer than OEM and put them in place. However, the bottom of the swaybar was really close to the control arm when I did this. This just didn't make any sense. The swaybar will hit the control arm over bumps for sure. The b12 lowering kit lowers the car 1 1/4" in the front & 1" in the rear. So, I reversed thought process and tightened the adjustable links all the way up. This only bought me a 1/2" shorter than OEM. I put the car back together and drove it around. I still get the creak/ click. I'm at a loss..... Please Advise.... |

upper strut bolts? upper strut tower braces that go to the center of the firewall/windshield? one of mines, the bolts was somewhat loose, making a click when turning at low speeds and leaning the car to that side.

Things to check:
- Caster arm bush bolts and endlinks must be torqued with the car on ramps (car at normal ride height) - Tie rod ends. Are the clamps done up tightly after alignment? - Ball joints, are they torqued to spec? - Did you check the condition of your strut mounts? The rubber can perish. The bearings can become dry or filled with dirt. Also if you didnt reassemble the strut/strut mount and all the little bits in between in the correct order and orientation you might encounter issues too. Is the 22mm strut nut done up to spec also? A lot of people have issues here as it is an uncommon size. - Strut mount nuts. The 13mm ones.. did you replace them? They are single use lock nuts. |
