Split Rubber - Which Part?

Noticed a bit of rubber missing from my driver's side door pillar.

I'm not sure what can be done - or what to search for! There's still some rubber inside the crack, it's like the top layer must have deteriorated.

Any ideas? Repair or replace? And what's it called?

BTW, yes, that it an old towel on the steering wheel - it was a sunny day...!

It's a panel that covers the windscreen, not sure on its name but it's removed to replace it.

Cool, thanks!

Also interested if it's a home DIY fix, or a nightmare in waiting......!

The rubber seals are available from BMW. Part numbers are 51137184005 for the left hand (passenger) side, 51137184006 for the right hand (drivers) side. They should be £15-£20 each.

Amazing, thanks.

Are they an easy replace? Any thoughts on the job?

A windscreen installer can easily pull it off, fairly sure you just give it a good tug and it comes off but not 100%.

From what I understand it just pulls off. As others have said it's just a finishing strip on the saloon/touring.

Many thanks guys - got the part in my sights!

It looks like quite a long strip.....Anyone know if there's any glue required?

Hoping that it just clips in......

I don't know any windscreen fitters.....Only ones i see are the main replacers. Not sure who else would be able to do it....Or the confidence to remove the strip!
