Anyone using the HKS BOV replica from eBay?

Is anyone running the eBay version of the HKS SSQV BOV? I seen one for $40 and another for $120. What's the difference between these fakes and the authentic ones?

Yeah I ran both the fake and authentic. I thought my fake one went bad so I ordered a real one but I found out it was a boost leak somewhere else. Never had any problems with the fake one had it one for over a year. Just don't buy those really cheap 40 dollar ones

I tested a copy HKS on a Audi 1.8T and it wouldn't hold boost over 14psi and kept randomly opening, but I piggybacked it onto a Forge 25mm recirc' valve with the HKS diaphragm removed, so the Forge would work normally and the HKS just changed the sound of the air released.

Just a thought, and I'm not even certain it would work:

Buy the knock-off, then when the knock-off starts to fail, buy the name-brand rebuild kit and and replace the knock-off's internals.

Modding on a Zero-Dollar Budget 101.

Its a simple valve just test it with a manual pump to see it holds pressure. Take it apart lube it assembled it back

Make sure you test it guys. Valves that are slow to release and/or stick (or aren't hooked up correctly with dedicated lines) can cause problems with surge. This is a much bigger deal with upgraded turbos that flow a ton more air.

Garage List
I have not had experience with the HKS knock off, but I have with the TiAL knock off. Got it from AliExpress. Checked it out and took it apart when I got it. Diaphragm looked good so I kept it. I did not trust the springs that came with it, so I got an original TiAL yellow spring for $20. Also upgraded to a dedicated 1/4" line. I've had it for about 6 months now and it's been working fantastically. Even sounds decent and never obnoxious.
