Folks - I changed the oil and most of the whine went away but the rear end was on ramps and I believe I overfilled it, some of the whine is still there, do you think overfill will cause it to whine ?

overfilling should not cause any problems. at what mileage did you have the whining sound? I have 75k miles and my diff seems fine, I wonder what it is?
