Oil leak near oil cooler / filter housing

I changed both OFH and cooler gaskets less more than a year ago. Was good until recently there was a water pump issue and I got it replaced and I noticed drop in oil level and today I saw this:

Could this be the oil filter housing and cooler gaskets again? Or just a bad filter cap o ring? Or a cracked housing?

It could be a few things, the things you listed all could be at fault. My money would be on the filter housing being the likely culprit but you won't know 100% for sure until you remove some parts and take a look around. Every single part you listed I've replaced at least once; the filter housing has been replaced a few times already by me.

What I can tell you for sure is that you do not want to mess around with this at all. I have seen multiple examples of oil leaks causing the belt to shred and do some very unsavoury things to the motor. You need to track this down and fix it quickly.

I had this problem today, though my leak is not as severe as yours, mine is only few drops on next to cap. Just checked my filter and its missing the big o-ring, I have a spare oil filter and currently changing it and replacing the filter. Keeping my fingers crossed hopefully its just the O ring...

Yeah that's what I'll try tomorrow, can't believe a faulty gasket can spray that far. Wishful thinking, because if gaskets or ofh I'll need to go to the Indy.

Had the same problem after changing out both ofhg and oil cooler gaskets. Problem ended up being the oil cap gasket since I reused my old one.

That's exactly what I figured it was, mine did the same thing. It didn't melt but rather the rubber hardened and fell apart.

Crappy gaskets! Glad you got to the bottom of it. I had my Indy do OFHG at about 70k while doing walnut blast and a few other little items. I ended up replacing it again myself at about 95k miles as it was starting to leak again. Seems these things just don't last!

Glad it is fixed, but FYI, that's not a picture of any melted rubber/gasket material from heat. When rubber or any plastic melts it yields smooth edges, balled up material, and generally looks....well, melted!

That picture has too many jagged edges. It almost looks like physical damage but it can't be. Also, it's concentrated damage around the coolant passage. I guess it could be a bad reaction between a cheap gasket and a chemical in the coolant, but it is definitely not heat/melting damage.

Again, doesn't matter, glad it's fixed.
