Half engine light and burning smell under hood after spark plug change
Changed my sparks/coils and added DCI and JB4 yesterday. Kept having misfires and found out coils were bad so I put back the old ones. Car runs smooth now but after driving 50mph on the freeway, half engine light came on. I pulled into a parking lot and immediately smelled burning under the hood. No smoke under the hood so I'm not sure whats the cause of the smell. Also... car jumps rpms on idle and jumpy on 1st/2nd gear as well. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

thankfully put in the old coils and no more misfires now. Only problem now is car jumps rpms on idle and half engine light came on when I was going about 50mph on the highway. After that there has been a burning smell under the hood. Dont know whats going on.

Burning smells are not typically seen doing routine, and proper, maintenance using correct procedures. Check your wiring, your grounds, and anything else you might've gaffed taking off the engine cover and changing parts out. Ensure your plugs are correct type, gap, and torque (and aren't broken). Ensure the coils are correct manufacturer and type (and aren't broken). Double and triple check all the wiring anywhere you've had your grubby little hands, especially around the JB4 wiring mods. Simply retrace your steps and you'll discover the issue. Remember this for next time too: too many changes at all once makes diagnosis much harder. Take baby steps doing maint. and mods and it'll make pinpointing and fixing issues much easier.
