Hi,

I collect my 335dM on 3.3.08, i have the 6FL option and have an ipod. i understand you can load your music on to a usb memory stick and therefore not need to leave an expensive ipod in the car.

my question is, is there any difference in the user interface or general userbility or are they identical. Does the screen have the same look, im not sure if the ipod delivers album artwork to the pro nav or is it just a track listing.

i dont wanna get a £40 cable if a £40 USB (prob 4-6gig) will be just the same.

There is not much in it. You'll have to export your play lists into the right format if you want to use lists on your stick, but apart from that, it indexes the stick and poopulates the lists for artists, albums etc itself.

A few people have found that certain portable USB hard drives work, so they end up with 100GB of storage for less than an ipod. If you don't have the cable, its def worth trying as the cable will cost as much as the stick!

My own portable HD did not work, as it needed power, but if you look around you'll find a thread listing drives that people have managed to get work. If you need less storage, any USB stick will work just fine.

Welcome Scott. I can't couch for what's missing if you don't use the iPod, but using a USB stick allows you what seems to be all the same functionality (following a discussion last year).
