1-series at the auto show
i was at the autoshow today and paid a visit to the 135/128 display.
First thing I noticed was the "boston leather" and seats in the cars are simple without nearly as much comfort as the sport seats in the 335. When sitting in the cockpit it has a bmw "feel", if you know what i mean. It definitely looks a bit bulkier and smaller than the 3 series cars. The dual exhaust on the 135 is paired, not split. The 135 doesnt feel as upscale as the 335, and the rear seat space is tiny, and i find the space in the back of the 335 is small to begin with. It does seem like a smart purchase for an entry level bmw, especially the 135 having the identical engine to the 335. I still am shocked that BMW put an identical engine in the 128/135 that is in the E9x, but I think they have scaled down the car enough for the 3 series to maintain most of it's resale value. Don't expect to get the comfort, at least in the seating and cockpit, that you'll get in the 335.

I think they are looking to catch the very young end of the market. People in their twenties with no kids.
Good for a briefcase... but I wouldn't try to put an adult in the backseat. I found the lines of the car too compact. |
