e92 Side mirror question

Why do people hate our cars so much? I was leaving my house to go to work this morning and see this:

Seriously so pissed off right now. A few months back, someone broke my window and stole my Cobb while parked in a private garage at work. Then, a fucking Chevy Astrovan parked next to me, dinged my side panel on the body line, and ran before I got any information. And now this shit.

Sorry for the rant. Anyways, I don't think it's worth going through my insurance. Gonna have to take care of this out of pocket. I can paint new mirrors and install them myself, but not sure of which ones to get. Any recommendations? Or if anyone on the forums has a pair to sell or is parting out a pre-lci e92.

Thanks!

I'm not sure which ones I have and which one will be needed. Do you know if these would be plug-and-play with my vehicle? 2008 335xi

Seems people just hate vehicles in general. It doesnt matter what they drive or what you drive. Very few people care about their cars anymore.

I am OCD as all hell when it comes to where I'll park. If you ding, scratch, hit, etc my car out in public then you really, really have to be trying to do it.

my friend has 2 nasty door dings on his car, both on the same panel and he always parks far away from everyone. when he comes back, people just had to park beside him.

with that being said, luckily I have been safe. seems like people really hate cars in the US...

I assume its the same concept as upgrade with the M3 wing mirrors if you have a 3 pin then a 3 pin replacement is plug and play. If you have a 5 pin you need a 5 pin, just take a look at the connection point and see how many pins you need. If you have auto dim it is automatically a 3 pin connector, you would retain whatever options you had previously.

I hear you. I only park on ends, where only 1 car can park next to me. I get about as close to the curb as you can without curbing wheels. I'm talking about 2 inches or less. The car that parks next to me would have to be partially in my space and probably extend their doors out as far as they'll go to ding me.

I'd rather have a long walk then come out and my car has a ding in it. It will almost always happen when you make an exception. But like you said, sometimes it's out of your control no matter what measures you take. Assholes

Yeah but it's still just the hassle of if something does happen, having to fix it. I'd rather avoid it as best as possible in the first place.

Not a bad idea though

I know what you mean but like you both mentioned above we can only do so much about it.
