My son's 2008 335i E92 oil filter housing starting leaking at 52K miles. So we went ahead and changed the gaskets, did an oil change and walnut blasted the valves since we had to remove the intake.
All went well until he went to start the car. When he did he got multiple cylinder misfires as well as vanos codes. Resetting the codes and trying again didn't help. We ended up pulling both vanos solenoids, cleaning them and reversing them. After that the car now runs and idles better than ever. I just wanted to post this in case anyone runs into the same issue. I wish I knew what the root cause was chance or what we did but at least the fix was simple. |
