Help Understanding Boost Parameters - Overboost Indication?

Needing some help identifying if I have an issue or just don't know what I'm talking about (the latter is true regardless, actually).

I've been using my COBB AP3 to monitor my boost as I drive. On the display I've got Mean Boost Abs, Request Boost Abs, and Boost.

I believe that if things were all good my Mean would be within a few pounds of my Requested. At idle, this is the case (sitting around 11.1). However, under WOT my Requested pops to about 14.1 but I've seen my Mean shoot to high 20's - low 30's. That seems wayyy to high but I'm not throwing any overboost codes. Boost read out peaks at 14lbs...

Am I misunderstanding my Mean read out? Please clear up my ignorance. Thanks!!

Mean sounds like absolute pressure; it's not subtracting atmospheric pressure like pressure gauges do. (though 11 is pretty low, sea level std pressure is 14.7psi).

You need to be looking at "boost". Or compare load with requested load.

The car will throw 30fe if you're overboosting anyways.

looks like the parameter is called "boost mean abs" officially so yes this is absolute pressure.

Thank you for response and for redirecting me. My Load vs. Requested Load is always within 2-3 points of each other.

I thought it strange that the Requested Boost Abs would subtract for atmosphere but Boost Mean Abs wouldn't but that does seem to be what is happening. Requested Boost Abs and Boost are very close.

Glad to hear that it seems I am looking for problems that don't exist yet.

Thanks again!

Yessir. 2-3 points between load vs requested is very good.

In case you're wondering... 11.1 psi abs pressure at idle is lower than absolute because it's in vacuum while idling, your pressure differential between boost and boost abs under load will be very close to 14.7 psi.
