Catted Downpipe for N55
Hi guys,
I am looking at purchasing a pre-owned Vishnu catted downpipe for my 2011 e90 xdrive but have a couple of questions before I pull the trigger. It seems there isn't a ton of info on here about catted downpipes for e90 n55 xdrive, although I didn't do an extensive search. 1) How much increase in noise will there be? Any drone? 2) Will smell be noticable? I have the secondary cats in my midpipe. 3) In terms of emissions, we do OBD testing in my area so what would be required to pass these types of tests? I have a JB4 on my car. Thanks in advance |

Can't speak for the Vishnu, but I've had a Cobb Catted and VRSF Catless DP on my car. The Cobb had more drone than a catless or stock for sure. 2) Will smell be noticeable? I have the secondary cats in my midpipe. Smell is not noticeable at all with a Cobb Hi Flow Cat. I have a RWD (no secondary cats) and couldn't tell the difference from stock and HFC. 3) In terms of emissions, we do OBD testing in my area so what would be required to pass these types of tests? I have a JB4 on my car. Places like Area Seventy Four offer downpipe fix to help pass emissions. Not sure how having a HFC works with secandary cats since they are down stream. People have noted that you still get a CEL with HFC. Hope this helps.

Would you mind elaborating on the drone part? I certainly don't want too much of that. Was it tolerable? Also - I'm assuming you were on stock exhaust... How much louder did the downpipe make it outside the car - specifically the catted one? |

I'm not sure if that catted downpipe is still available but we have ceramic coated catted downpipes in stock if you're looking for a cost effective solution. A catted downpipe will only increase the exhaust note moderately. The catless downpipe is pretty noticeable.

I am not familiar with the Vishnu one since they stopped offering it years ago.
We offer VRSF, AR Design, Wagner and Cobb catted downpipes. No fuel smel, no drone with either one if installed correctly

Not sure I recommend a pre-owned, high flow cats are notorious for wearing down and not performing like they did when they were new.- that includes smell and emissions control.
I'd consider a new option if you want to ensure everything is up to par. -Wagner catted -VRSF Catted -AR Catted |
