Use uShip to get bids. I had a good experience using montway shipping from DC to LA.

Search my posts, I answered someone with the same question two months ago. If you book through a broker expect to pay $200+ in fees. You should book directly with a carrier to save. Uship offers were more expensive than booking directly with the broker, I believe uship charges them a fee which they carry over to you.

Major collector car carriers are Passport, Intercity, Horseless Carriage, lots of them in Hemmings. I have used Passport and Intercity and both had excellent, enclosed shipping door to door.

DAS is another large shipper that gives you more options. You can ship door to door, or terminal to terminal, or combination. You have to drive and/or pick up at their terminal, but it saves money. Like most shippers other than the above group, they tend to put your car in a terminal parking lot until they have a truck full of cars going where you want. The car may be exposed to the elements. They offer enclosed door to door or open carrier, but if the car is at the terminal, ask if it is indoors or out.

The lowest priced shippers are through brokers and you can get door to door with open or closed carrier. You might get an excellent trucker or a jerk, but they will make good on any damage caused by the trucker. It can be a good or bad experience and you might even get a new paint job out of it, as at least two of my acquaintances have even though they used reputable shippers or brokers that they had used previously.

I had good experiences using this broker for shipping all four of my rides from NY to CA:

Will Rodriguez
Dynamic Auto Movers
Vehicle Transport Broker
(321) 325-2141

All he does is adds a fee on top of the shipping charge and he is up front about that. I really liked the experience and it was a lot less trouble.
