Someone on the forums said a square setup is not good for the transmission on a rear wheel drive, can anyone confirm that for me? Was interested in a set of rims with 275/35/18, the rim is 18x9.5, will that fit all around on my e93? Thanks.

you're gonna need some serious fender work up front with that offset, width and tire size. Probably a lot of camber as well. Rear should just need a slight roll, or mildly aggressive camber

Already rolled fenders, so you're saying the front won't fit the 275s? I could opt out and switch them to 255s.

Garage List
So you read someone said 275 square is bad for the transmission.. ok fine.

Did you even think about that or just instantly believe it?

The front wheels are in no way connected to your transmission so how could it harm your transmission?

If A is not related to B, how could A affect B? Seems like some simple 5th grade logic to me.

And no a 275 will not fit in the front of an E93, a simple google can easily tell you that.

Lol no. Rear et 30 maybe. Youll need to roll and stretch for et22 rear. Front you will need to fabricate new front fenders or add a liberty kit. 255 is biggest an e93 can fit. And those need perfect offset, 35 and will still rub like crazy. Oh, and i know. I have a pre lci e93 with 305 rear, 245 front. I used to have 235 front, 275 rear. Perfect look.

Oh and front fenders are plastic. 245 et 30 barely fit. 275 et22 would stick out a full inch past the fenders up front.

My rears are 305 in et43. 275 on et 22 would be sticking out a quarter inch more than mine. My fenders are rolled and stretched 1/2" and i still rub on some bumps. You want 275 on et 33-35 for flush rear.

I agree about the front, however I'm running that exact same rim size and 265 in the rear, with zero rolling or pulling. This is on a pre LCI, I didn't see what the OP was driving, but I've still seen people pull off that fitment with a mild roll on LCI's even

Square wheel and tire fitments are extremely popular and effective on both RWD and AWD vehicles. As always, it is important to pay attention to overall rolling diameters to keep things in check.

If your goal is to run 265/35-18 or 275/35-18 square, you will need 18x9.5" wheels with adjustable camber plates installed up front. Negative camber specs will depend on the wheel offset, tire size and brand, but you can expect to run at least -2.5 degrees or more. Depending on the wheels offset and the suspension you are running, you may need spacers up front to clear the front struts.

All of this makes sense if this car is a track weapon.

If you're enjoying your car predominantly on the street and you would like a bolt on square fitment, the most tire you are going to get on all four corners is 255/35-18. Most pair this tire size with 18x9" wheels with an offset somewhere around ET30.

Yes, 265 is what the tire sites recommend for rears on all e92/93. But a pre can get away with 275, 285 with a slight roll. Lci needs a roll sometimes for 275.
