torx bolts
Hi
Trying to replace oil filter housing gasket. The torx bolts are stripped and having trouble taking them out. Can I replace these bolts with any high tensole hex bolts you buy from supercheap or repco? assuming of course the size and length are the same. thanks |

The head of the fastener that is of a torx six point design can sustain a higher rotational force than a conventional hex socket head.
Also the torx design allows for smaller head for the same torque applied than a hex socket head. |

Ideally I want to BMW bolts but spare parts is not open today. Im talking about the Champion branded gold in color high tensile bolts. Is there is anything detrimental to the car if i use them? |

Would be surprised if you can find the exact spec and tensile properties of the OEM bolts at SCA. Nothing detrimental I can think of only that the OFH is likely to leak again. You could give them a go. Worst thing that can happen is that you will need to do the job over

Yeah i'm resigned to the fact I have to do it again. But hopefully this can get me by for a while. Of course for next time I'll have a few sets of these bolts as spares. |

Yeah ended up using the rubber band trick.
But ended up breaking the front coolant hose that connects to the thermostat. Luckily my mate had a spare. But it took like 3 hours to replace it |
