E40 Fuel Consumption

Hey Guys,
I just wanted to get an idea of what is considered normal and then not so good fuel consumption when running BP 98 with United E85.

1)Now on the bowser it says this fuel contains 85% E85 but is 107 Octane so does this mean its not pure Ethanol?

2)Back to my original question im running an E40 blend right now and fuel consumption has gone up. I know that you roughly need 30% more E but on a full tank im getting approx. 400kms with some spirited driving (full tank is 80-$82.

Is this ok with an E40 blend?

Cheers

I get about 15l/100km on e40
Probably get better efficiency if you do highway speeds.

Mines currently at 16.1, city driving. Prior to E40 I was getting 12.9-13.2 with the same route.

Your consumption increase sounds about right.

I was getting low 10's on 98 and now sits in the 13's on E50.

FWIW united in my area seems to sit on E78-E79 all year round (my mate has an e sensor in his car)

and no its not pure ethanol, its mixed with 98 AFAIK (united E85)

United E85 is all the "race spec" now as far as I know. It's ~82% Ethanol and ~18% 98RON.

Unfortunately, OTS maps and all custom remote tuners maps that I know of mostly don't run best cruise AFR for economy and definitely don't run best timing for economy. My custom tune is around 16:1 afr under vacuum and has an educated guess on best timing (it'd cost hundreds in dyno time to determine the perfect timing in all commonly used load cells). I run E25 and get 10L/100km average with mixed driving.

WOW 10L/100km on E25 that's awesome! I didn't even get that on pump 98!

Well I am on the BEF E85 and Map 7 at E40, if I went down to E25 would that still be ok for my settings or would I need to reflash or change maps?

I run a custom tune. It's the AFR, timing and VANOS that gives me good economy more so than the difference between E25 and E40. Also it's mostly driven by the mrs who never has a crack in it.

I would not recommend to run any less than 40% ethanol with the BMS E85 BEF.

Ah good to know. So if I do scale back to 25% E85 would the race BEF be the best way to do it?

I don't know what the timing is like on that one and fuel trims wouldn't be ideal. I'd go for a custom BEF and run map 6 with custom boost curve.
