Lots of M3's
I'm getting more and more tempted about having one. Prices are down to £46500 for low mileage fully loaded cars on the BMW used website. I'm just trying to put a handle on when to jump in for one.
£45000 for a fully loaded M3 seems good but i'm hearing that trade bids are around £42000 for a fully loaded M3's so maybe i should wait for the big £40000 ? Lots to choose from too |

I would love one - in theory i.e money no object. But considering a remapped 335d pushes out 340-350bhp and more torque and can be had for at least 15k less its not really possible for me to justify.
I think they are amazing cars - don't get me wrong and regardless of what audi and mercedes have on offer the M3 is still better but unless you simply must have that V8, you're better off spending less for 80%+ of the performance I won't put a figure on it - only be guessing - but i dont think that the vast majority of people would use the extra performance Still after all that when they cost £30-35k, I reckon there will be a mass trade in of 335's |

power is part of it but its the whole M badge - technology handling and driving experience for me. plus it looks 10x better IMO than the 335, has a nice carbon fibre roof, 4 tailpiipes, nice wheels aaand the all important LSD

I would give it another few months, they will find their own level in the market. I suspect that they will plateau around the £40-£42k mark, just like the RS4 has, but at an earlier stage in its life - And I put this down to the current thinking on fuel prices, emmissions, congestion charge etc.
I for one also wouldnt want to spend over £40k on a fast 4 seater saloon /coupe, for me that is 997 territory. Once Ive got bored of the S3 ( about 6 months should do it) and I have another sprog on the way, I will probably be moving into an RS4 - 18 months to 2 years old, low miles and under £40k!!! Or maybe an M3 saloon....... Those comparing a 335D with an M3 - there is no comparrison, yes in normal driving a 335D, especially a re-mapped one, is a very fast car, but itll never be an M car, in the way it drives, sounds, handles, experience it gives the driver etc, it'll still be a very fast diesel - And I also think this is one of the reasons, apart from financial that Im going back to a petrol!!! Anyway Scott enjoy the M3 when you get it

In about 12-15months, i intend to trade in my 335d for a M3 with the MDCT gizmo on it too. Its a rare breed of a sportscar, and for me very irresistable. The only thing which may sway decision, is either the launch of a 340d or the implementation of ridiculous tax hikes for people with 225+g/km Co2 cars. By ridiculous i mean having to pay £1000 for road tax, or paying £100 everytime you switch the damn thing on !! |

Counting the days here, waiting for a 4 door, currently being told week 16 production, delivery week 20 which is may This will be the dealers first 4 door too.
M-DCT is available to order for june production so late July delivery, might as well wait for september if you want that. Almost all the second hand M3s at the moment are red or black ex-demos so expect them to have been thrashed to death. I expect once the new gearbox arrives and all the manual ex-demo's get sold prices will firm up strongly, I might be wrong but buying around may-july might get you a bargin, |

just that most ppl know it as SMG - beemers electronically automated gearbox, so just making it simpler to read!
i doubt it is called DSG cos thats audis version and whats already known to be out there to be dual clutch. im sure theyve trademarked it anyhow? also i think the official name is M-DCT (Drivelogic) as the previous post has mentioned |
