EGR Delete

Planning to remove egr/cooler. If i do will it go into limp mode or just flag engine light?

My 2006 330D shows dashboard light if I run EGR delete pipe. But car runs better without a doubt.

Yes car idled better and seemed to run better but would fail an MOT because of the dashboard light. Want to re-install it but can't find someone local to map it out for a reasonable cost.
