How bad is it for your car to use launch control. Someone told me the manual says the car can only be launched 3 times for the life of the car. Is this the case? Whats the likely hood of breaking something if your running 19 psi and using launchcontrol?

no, I think its 3 times within like 10 mins. It's trigged by the dct coolant temp. I think there are some folks on the M forums that do experience trans slipping on 2/3 shifts for ST installs. There seems to be some ways to increase the pressure for the clutches I think. That's the only limits I have heard about on the DCTs.

If it was a Porsche 911 Turbo you could do it about 50 times in a row...
I wouldn't do a BMW more then a couple in a row without proper cool down. |
