Cost... Calibration... We just need a better mouse trap. Trim pots suck and they don't always work because people go from one extreme to another without letting the car reset when they get codes that are persistent until a complete test cycle is done. So it can be a PITA to calibrate. Depending on cost, I might actually look into having a solution made that auto calibrates. For off road and test purposes only by the way.
