N57 Intake manifold removal help
I have decided to remove my intake manifold on my 330d N57 engine to clean it and renew glow plugs. But I am having a problem getting it out. The problem I am having is with the egr pipe where it connects into the inlet manifold. According to the Haynes manual I should "release the clamp, undo the 2 bolts and remove egr pipe. Then unscrew the 2 bolts securing the pipe to the manifold". It shows the "2 bolts securing the pipe to the manifold" as 2 & 3 in the pic below. But once these are undone the pipe cannot be removed from the manifold as it inserted in the block and there is no room to move it. Now in ISTA is say nothing about removing it from the intake manifold but only from the front of the engine beside the cooler, and disconnecting the pipe at 1 in the pic and appears to leave it in the intake manifold. So when the manifold is taken out should the egr pipe still be attached to it and does it just pull out from block in pic 2?

Yes it does pull out from the block.
It's not a difficult job, but it is time consuming as you have to remove loads of stuff to get it all off.
