2012 335is 47k miles- DBC malfunction, DSC Malfunction, Start-Off Assistance Inactive
Long story short, I lifted my car up because I was going to swap out the downpipes. I jacked the car up and put jack stands on each of the front control arms. Pulled off the Belly pan, Ended up realizing I didn't have time so I put the belly pan back on and lowered the car. I was driving down the highway and all of a sudden the DBC malfunction, DSC Malfunction, and Start-Off Assistance Inactive all came on at once. I have absolutely no idea what could have happened. (Reading another Post I thought it might be the SAS but that didn't make sense due to the fact that the blinker still works and turns off when turning the other direction) I tried unplugging the negative terminal for 10 minutes to see if that would reset it but when I plugged it back in the clock was reset but the code was still there. Anybody else experience something like this? Hoping I can fix it without a costly trip to BMW.
Thanks! |

My "drive off assist" was inactive due to a faulty footwell module (FRM). 2011 e92 n52 6mt non-CIC.
The reverse switch on the transmission (for manual) tells the FRM to turn on the back-up lights. My reverse switch checked fine, but back up lights weren't working. FRM had gone crazy regarding reverse, fog, and auto light functions. The DSC module needs to know which direction to anticipate motion in order for the drive-off to work. Apparently it gets this info from the FRM over CAN. Getting FRM replaced (under warranty) fixed drive-off. All the while, ABS and traction control functions were working properly. So, if you scan and see a bunch of footwell module codes, know that the two can be related. |

Solved!!
Thanks for the feedback guys! Turns out it was due to my alignment being off. The wheel was turned slightly to one side to drive straight so the Steering Angle Sensor was throwing a code. A friend was able to recalibrate the SAS as is until I can get an alignment and recalibrate it again when its straightened out!
