Is the 330 N52 engine different from X3si?
Asking this question, because I have a 2007 X3 with the N54 engine and the spec on it is 268Hp. During the same facelift production version of the X3, there was another iteration with 228Hp. X3 3si vs X3 3.0 (268Hp vs 228Hp)
Looking up the e90 330 it has 255Hp. Both X3 si and 330 have 3 stage manifold. What is the difference engine-wise? Doesn't seem much, but the X has a 13Hp gain over the sedan. Where does it come from?

Thanks for the answer.
Could you elaborate, please? Meaning: taking a X3 exhaust and make it fit on a 330, the 330 will net 268Hp? What is the exhaust difference apart from rear muffler - transversal on 330 vs longitudinal on X3?

Another way to check would be RealOEM and look at the engine part numbers, If I remember correctly all of the N52 versions have the same part number and the N52N carry a second. There are very small are very small differences in them. The cylinder heads are the same, cams the same etc.
N52 - 325,330I, 525, 530, Z4 3.0I, Z4 3.0SI N52N - 128, 328, 528, X5-3.0SI, X3- 3.0SI, Z4 3.0I, (330,130) Euro car only Probably not a complete list, but you should get the point. The power differences is in the tune, intake manifold and exhaust system. N52 should be controlled by the MVS70 while the N52N will have the MSV80. Either can create the same power and run the same basic maps. Exhaust manifolds seem to be different for each car and build to curve around the available space. the SUV's having more space then the cars. |
