New bleeder cap. Why so leaky?!
Built my own pressure bleeder system and I've been excited to get it tested. Purchased the aluminum Schwaben reservoir cap. Me, being super excited to wrench on my car, headed straight out there to bleed those brakes... popped the cap on the hose, started pumping... river of brake fluid.
Thinking to myself, "self, you must have screwed up". Checked again, and again. Finally tried to see where the gasket was touching the reservoir. Put some fluid on the rim, cleaned off the cap's gasket and screwed it down... 3/4 of the gasket was touching. Ok... just need to get that gasket pushed down more right? Pulled the gasket (it's like 3/8" thick) and put some weed whacker filament behind, just to give it that extra 2.5mm. Nope. And got the thing down as tight as I could without destroying the threads on the reservoir. Has anyone had this issue before? ECS tuning is sending out another cap just in case it is a defect but I'm thinking it might be my reservoir.. Not sure how that would have gotten screwed up.. Thoughts? |

I gotta say, ECS Tuning is pretty good. Contacted them via the chat window on the website. Told them I was having issues and they're sending a new one just in case. No need to return, no need to pay for shipping. Took about 10 mins from asking to receiving an email confirmation.
I think I'm sticking with these guys. |
