19" Apex ARC-8
Hi all, looking for your thoughts on the effectiveness of this change!
Originally had the stock M193 wheels on my E90 335i with Hankook Ventus S1 Evo2 rubber in the usual 255/35R18 and 225/40R18 sizes. Nice enough combo but a bit blah. Like many, I wanted the 19" 'look' and went for a set of AG M359 in 19x9 and 19x10 and bought some of the new Pilot Sport 4S to go with them in 235/35R19 and 265/30R19 - awesome tires! But what I felt was a little 'dulling' of the car - felt VERY planted, but a little less responsive and just a bit more dull. I am sure I could also feel the dampers getting taxed a little more over bumps on country roads. (I have a B12 kit with M3 arms and new tie rod assemblies) However.......now I want the best of both worlds - the look of the 19" wheels but with less weight, so I'm thinking of selling the AG M359s and changing to 19" Apex ARC-8. This way I get to keep the Michelins and enjoy the unsprung weight savings. In total, by making this change the front wheel and tire combo would drop from 48lb to 42.4lb, and the rears would drop from 52.2lb to 44.5lb. Is that going to be enough to feel a difference in handling and acceleration? I realise the ride will still be worse than with 18" wheels, but I really want to keep hold of the Pilot Sport 4S as they aren't available in 18" sizes yet. |

Reducing rotational mass by installing the lighter 19" ARC-8's will certainly translate to better performance, however it's hard to say if it will be enough of an improvement to meet your expectations.
Moving down to 18" wheels will have a dramatic effect on the driving experience, one you are sure to notice behind the wheel. We appreciate your interest, and please let us know if you have any questions. - Ryan

I would have thought losing 6lb per front wheel and 8lb per rear wheel would have been quite noticeable? |

Glad to hear the ARC-8 in 19" feel great. Which front offset did you go for? |

Oh my bad. The fronts are ET20 and rears ET33. I think the front fitment is perfect(minus the rubbing) but it doesn't poke out too far or sink in too far. |

Thanks man. I really wish they would make a profile 3 face in ET35 but guess it wouldn't work. I'll probably got for the ET35 up front to avoid issues and just put up with the flatter profile.

I could send you pics later of the ET20 front when I get home from work. I think I might just have a bad alignment which could be the cause for me only rubbing on the front left. I'll be getting a new one done soon.
