I think Bosch is oem as well, at least with my euro car...

Would maf double the consumption tho? Anyway, try disconecting the maf and see consumption with it disconnected? Pretty sure even with it disconnected your consumption shouldnt be double your standarts.. But maybe it takes some time to readapt to whatever the state is now as Torqu3 said. There is an option to reset adaptations. You should do that when you change the maf or injectors and other stuff. So you can try reseting that with your current state and see if anything changes.

its had to say without seeing the maf but it sounds like you broke something.... the part that is located in the center that air passes over is positioned and calibrated to be exactly where it is. if for whatever reason the sensor gets moved up, down, or left to right it will change the airflow characteristics and produce a bad reading.. if the sensor gets twisted not enough air will flow threw it and will produce a false reading..
