Dealership recommendations in SE Michigan

Hi there,

I will be moving to Bloomfield Hills in July of this year and was curious what BMW dealership to use in the area. I know Erhard has one in both Bloomfield and in Farmington Hills. Does anyone have any personal experience with any dealerships in the area or would recommend others a little further away? Thanks in advance,

Russell

Bavarian for Purchase, Erhard for Service

My recommendation -

Lease/Buy goto Bavarian. Go see Chris Hunt. Used to be at Erhard Bloomfield and used to manage Erhard Farmington. Been around for a long time and goes the extra mile without a doubt. Bought 4 BMWs from him over the past 10 years. Even arranged for my E36 M3 back when I was in Singapore before coming back stateside and did everything via email no problemo. One of the very few humble BMW sales reps around that goes the extra mile and doesn't BS. I don't care much for the Erhard reps other than Jim Edmonson who is humble like Chris.

Service goto Erhard Bloomfield. Service is much better than Bavarian customer service rep wise and attention to details. Go see Bob Ufolla or Chen Yen. Both young guys but good at follow-up which I don't find often. Getting loaner is sometimes easier at Erhard Farmington but drive is just way too far if you live in Bloomfield. Bloomfield will pick you up and drop-off along with high speed wireless in the waiting area.

Issue with Erhard and Bavarian is that the 2nd gen of the family is taking over and customer service quality has changed. Both dealers are family related as 2 immigrant brothers started it all, Eitel and Erhard Dahm. But their kids seem much more interested in the dollars than the sevice. I haven't heard great things and everytime I goto either - doesn't have that personal feel like it used to. What can you do with the next generation that gets the dealership handed to them...

If you need any body work or repairs goto Autometric and ask for Mick Van Loo at the Orchard Lake shop. They specialize in BMW and MB and Mike has never disappointed me.

Thanks

Thanks pds22 - very thorough information. I have actually already spoken with Jim at Erhard (by random chance) and he seemed very nice and knowledgeble. I'll certainly try Bavarian as well. Thanks again

I like Erhard. Have used them for years. Not always the best place to get a deal. Better chances to do that in Ann Arbor, Grand Blanc from what I've heard.

I work with either Ron Parush (sp?) or Mike Shaeffer at Erhard, both great informed sales guys who are no pressure.

Service-wise no complaints. Once out of warranty though, I go to Munk's Motors in Waterford. I also agree with the person above about Autometric if you ever need body work -- they're the best!

I purchased and serviced my car at Erhard Bloomfield Hills.
Sales was alright. Nothing great, but nothing that would stop me from returning for my next Bimmer. However, service is outstanding. Richard Weinstein was my SA, and also the SA my father takes his Z4 to. Always goes above and beyond, and like most guys on here, I'm demanding when it comes to my car.
