335i misfires, or HPFP? no CEL
Is it common to get any misfires, or have HPFP issues without getting a CEL.
Often on cold start, and sometimes under heavy acceleration i get a skipping like hesitation. The it does not race up like a slipping auto, so I think its maybe plugs, or HPFP. There is no check engine light. Car is a 335i 2010 with 54,000 miles on it. What should I try/check first? |

Will a regular OBD2 scanner pull the shadow codes? I dont have any logging options yet, Was looking to get that setup soon but still researching on how to pull the logs.

Pull your plugs cold in the morning, if smelling of gas, bad injector, are you covered under warranty? A electric misfire should come up by code if present.,

Misfires can occur without throwing codes and normally do not cause a CEL.
The MSD81 DME has misfire counters which can be monitored in real-time.

Sounds similar to issues that I'm having. With a tune I was misfiring badly under heavy load and my logs showed that my car was running way too lean. I finally threw a hpfp code but it seems my cold starts are much worse than yours as well. Your hpfp may be on its way out.
