PROcede, PROcede/MHD, MHD, JB4/MHD or just JB4?
Can someone with experience chime in for me on where I should go with my tuner platform as I rebuild and improve my car......
Car has a PWM meth kit from Vishnu and currently a PROcede..... Through my other threads many people keep mentioning I should go MHD or JB4/MHD. So to be informed I've started doing research and have found a lot of conflicting and/or incomplete information on utilizing MHD with the meth kit. Ultimately I'm looking for reliability. If it's possible to keep the PROcede I would like to, but if not I'm not overly concerned on spending the money for the JB4 if it's needed (at this point with all I've spent on fixing the car). Let me know if more info is needed but this seems to be the only pertinent info for making this decision. If I need to order a JB4 I'd like to by the end of next week so it can get here as I wrap up the rebuild. Thanks guys! |

I'm still using my Procede to control the PWM meth kit.
But I bought MHD a few years ago and flashed a custom map and have never gone back to running just the procede on it's own. You can turn off the tuning parameters the Procede controls like AFR, timing, etc. and let the flash control your engine, while the procede basically controls the meth and integrates nicely with the flash tune and still gives you a working failsafe. You have to know your way around the tables both in the procede user control panel and the backend flash tables using TunerPro to integrate them to work together and not against each other. |

dcafs, I really appreciate the response.
Good to hear that I won't need to replace the PROcede. I have the program on my laptop and will start sifting through it to see how steep is the learning curve. What's your opinion on it, as I have never tuned a vehicle, but feel fairly mechanically inclined and knowledgable. I'll also begin to look at tunerpro to start getting an idea on that. Do you happen to have any links or documents that would be helpful in guiding me? Thanks. Well, it's good to know I don't need to replace that. |

You can try searching on here for "stacking a procede" with a flash tune. There were a few threads on it, but Shiv left the platform so there is absolutely NO procede support whatsoever. Good news is that if you use it only to control your meth, you can use a backend flash through MHD which there is a lot of support for on this forum and others. You probably won't find a definitive guide as to what tables to change and where. Mine has been an ongoing labour of love and experimentation for 5 years now and it still hasn't stopped as I recently purchased the xHP stage 3 transmission flash. Your best bet is to send me your email address via PM and I can email you my custom backend flash which has been tweaked via TunerPro to run nicely with the procede PWM, and also the map I run on my Procede which has a lot of tables returned to stock values or turned off altogether. You can explore these on your own time and have a good starting point. You will still need to purchase the MHD "flasher" option in order to load the backend flash to your DME, but you do not need to purchase their off the shelf maps as you will be making your own customized one. MHD OTS maps are not designed to run meth. You might be able to get one of their Ethanol maps to work, but their maps are locked and I found I needed to adjust AFR's and timing curves in order to work with meth. So you won't be able to do so. Terry also has a number of backend flash maps available on his site and has recommended the regular gas racing map to work with meth.....but these maps are designed specifically to run with a JB4. I tried them out and they do work and can be adjusted using TunerPro. So you have some options If you choose not to run meth, then just purchase the MHD flash module and one of their OTS maps. I use one during the winter, when it gets too cold to run meth and the stage 2 maps are pretty darned good. Very fast spool and very safe fuel ratios and timing values. Meth will give you more power in upper rpms and carry on into 4th and 5th gear better than MHD alone....but still, MHD impressed me, and no need to complicate things with a piggyback if you are not going to run meth. |

2nd.
I just did a BEF w/ my JB4 and I am amazed how smooth it is. 100% worth it. Just about as close to having a legit custom flash as you can get...but with some added safety features. The MHD fanboys wont agree, but that's my opinion. |
