Updated my CIC maps to 2017-2

Well I updated my maps. Old version was 2008 so just 9 years of difference.
Funny thing is it still tries to send me down a dirt road romantic my house that comes out at a blind exist onto a main road.
At least now it'll show I'm on newer roads instead of in empty space.

One thing. There is now a single usb update option but the stick still has to be formatted as fat32. An option removed on windows since a out windows 7 sp1.
I tried command prompt and it told me the 65gb stick was too big. A tool called rufus happily did it.

Update did take maybe 2 or 3 hours and the idrive screen goes to sleep. The idrive controller did nothing. I thought it had failed. Took the key out and put it back in. Checked the navigation version and it still showed 2008. I thought it failed. So I started again and it resumed. Next time I just pushed the ignition and screen comes back on showing its still doing good the update even though it looks like the car is asleep.

No. What's the default? Fastest?
The thing about that dirt road is it has\had speed bumps as well and once my car bottomed out on one.

Every GPS I've ever used always directs you up that road.

Most of the couriers I talk to say the same.

That could be the "shortest" route instead of the quickest.
I changed mine the other day, I think I had it on maps, then moved the idrive controller right to give more options.... think it was on that menu
Either that or one of the icons up the left of the map.... not with the car at the min to see sorry

Oh interesting!
I didn't know that but I don't know how often they get released. I'll probably update in 2026. 9 years down the road.

Glad I got the lifetime FSC code. At least I can upgrade whenever I need to now.

There are usually two updates a year. Never heard of a 3rd release.

My usual location only has 2017-1 and 2017-2.

It's a patch for Brexit showing the new borders in the UK.

Joking!
